Itineraries
Each Club Volante itinerary has been planned to provide the maximum enjoyment from
a day out, including visits to places of historical interest as well as beautiful
scenery and challenging roads. The distances vary, with some more demanding routes
which will require a whole day, and others which can be driven in a few hours.
All our itineraries do, of course, include a break for lunch at one of the many excellent
restaurants in the area and plenty of time for sightseeing. You will be able to join
fellow Club Volante guests on an organised tour, or if you prefer to spend a day exploring
on your own, choose from our list of tried-and-tested routes.
Here are details of just three of them.
Route
1; Cortona, Vinyard Avignonesi
This route takes you down the Niccone valley, across the hills to Cortona, then to
the Aivignonesi vineyard in the renowned Montepulciano area for lunch and a tour of
the wine cellars. The return journey is via Tuoro on Lake Trasimeno and the total
distance is around 85km.
Route
2; Montone/Citta di Castello
Lunch in the mediaeval fortified hill town of Montone is followed by a visit to Pietralunga
and an afternoon spent in Città di Castello. The distance is not great (approximately
80km), so this itinerary, depending on the group's preference, is also suitable for
an afternoon outing followed by dinner in Città di Castello.
Route
3; Urbino
This itinerary takes you across the Appenines, through some of the most spectacular
scenery in this part of Italy, to Urbania and Urbino and back via Cagli. It is one
of the longer tours, approximately 197 km, much of it on winding mountain roads, and
we advise you to make an early start and allow the whole day.
